China import
A direct-from-China BYD is cheaper than the official dealer, but the biggest risk is the Chinese GB/T port, which won't charge on Gulf CCS2 networks without verification/conversion. The DiLink UI may be Chinese, and warranty is gray-market only.
Needs a charging adapter?
Critical: many China units are GB/T — they won't charge on CCS2 without a certified port conversion or a trusted adapter (rare and unreliable for DC). Verify first.
App & account
The BYD app is region-split; China units may bind only to the Chinese app. The global/Gulf app may not recognize a China-spec car.
Maps & navigation
DiLink typically uses local Chinese maps with poor Gulf coverage. Many owners rely on CarPlay/Android Auto or a phone mount instead of the built-in maps.
Connectivity (LTE)
Built-in connectivity may be geo-locked or tied to a Chinese carrier. Confirm the eSIM/connection works in Kuwait, or rely on your phone.
Local warranty
Gray-market units aren't covered by the official Gulf distributor's warranty. The official dealer may refuse repairs or parts.
Saves a lot but the risk is high, especially the port. If it's CCS2 export-spec at a great price it can work; otherwise the official dealer is safer.
