US import
A US Tesla is cheaper up front but ships with the NACS plug, which doesn't match Gulf CCS2 networks — you'll need adapters, and there's no local warranty. The rest works after a region transfer, but with no native Arabic.
Needs a charging adapter?
Yes — NACS port. You need a NACS-to-CCS2 adapter for Gulf DC fast charging, plus a NACS-to-Type 2 adapter for home/AC charging. Buy genuine, trusted adapters.
App & account
The Tesla app works globally, but you must ask Tesla support to transfer the car's account to the Gulf region so data shows correctly. A local phone number may be needed.
Maps & navigation
Maps and navigation function across Kuwait and the Gulf, but the interface is English-only — no native Arabic on the car screen. Some POIs may be missing.
Connectivity (LTE)
Connectivity relies on the in-car LTE modem and eSIM; some US units use bands that differ regionally. Premium Connectivity (live traffic maps, streaming) may not auto-activate outside the US — verify before buying.
Local warranty
No local Tesla warranty on US imports. Repairs are third-party only, and Tesla may decline service on some privately imported units.
Worth it only if the price gap is big and you're comfortable with adapters and no warranty. For peace of mind, an EU CCS2 import is far better.
